A trauma-informed, inclusive yoga immersion

Do you believe that yoga is for everybody?

If so, your journey starts here. If you are a 200-hour yoga teacher who wants to learn to make your yoga classes more inclusive and trauma-aware, this is your training. If you are a yoga practitioner who wants to learn to embody yoga in a way that is authentic to its roots and also unique to your lived experience, this your training. This immersion is open to all levels of yoga students.

The Waking Yoga 100 Hour virtual training is yoga for personal and social transformation. We will support you through four months of self-inquiry, yoga, and evidence-based mindfulness and somatic practices that will lead you deeper into self-knowledge and enrich your work in the world. This transformative experience will leave you more awakened to the world within you and the world around you.

Who are we?

Waking Yoga is a collaboration of experienced yoga educators, yoga therapists, and community activists who believe that yoga can be a powerful tool for personal healing and liberation as well as for the healing and liberation of society.

Our vision is to nurture trauma-informed yoga teachers who are active in their communities and beyond, guiding them to work mindfully with privilege and oppression and understand the nuances of their students’ races, genders, sexual orientations, bodies, and overall lived experiences as deep sources of individual and collective wisdom.

When do we meet?

We will meet bi-monthly Saturday and Sunday, 9 am - 1 pm.

All classes will be interactive and live on Zoom and include practice, lectures, and discussions. All practices and lectures will be recorded and shared with students in the training.

This is an investment in your personal growth and in the growth of society as a whole.

This 100 training can be included towards the Practice Yoga 300-hour advanced training and a 500 Yoga Alliance Certification.

A $200 deposit reserves your spot for this training. Payment plans are available.

WHO'S TEACHING?

1 Jenn

Jenn Wooten (she/her) C-IAYT, E-RYT 200, YACEP

Jenn is a certified yoga therapist and yoga educator who has studied yoga and mindfulness for over 20 years. She has been a teacher, mentor, and group facilitator in the Austin yoga community since 2004. Her teaching style focuses on body awareness, functional movement, and resilience. The core of her teaching is helping people cultivate a yoga and mindfulness practice as a pathway for healing and wellbeing. She founded Waking Yoga which creates heart-centered and trauma-aware spaces to practice yoga in Austin and around the world.

2 Susan

Susan Somers-Willett Ph.D., (she/her/they/their) RYT 500, E-RYT 200, PYRT, TIYT

A writer, professor, yogini, mom, and global traveler, Susan Somers-Willett has many roles, but one of her most compelling is helping yoga practitioners embrace the wisdom of their own experience. She is currently a Lecturer in Gender Studies at The University of Texas at Austin and joins yoga and social justice through her passion project, Yoga in Bold™. Susan offers yoga as an act of radical self-acceptance, and she is passionate about making yoga accessible to everyone.

3 Kewal

Kewal Hausmann (They, Them) ERYT 500, CIAYT, LMT

With over 18 years of teaching experience, Kewal Hausmann is dedicated to helping inspire students towards their own happiness and personal satisfaction. Kewal is a certified yoga therapist, who brings their big heart and signature humor to every class, no matter the style. Their teaching is grounded in creating spaces where all people feel welcome and celebrated and helping students feel empowered in their practice and comfortable in their bodies.

4 Fatima

Fatima Mann JD, 200 Hour Yoga Guide, TIYT

Fatima Mann’s life’s mission is to be a vessel for others to experience the full joy of loving and accepting themselves.  Fatima founded two Austin based social justice organizations, the Austin Justice Coalition and Counter Balance: ATX. After graduating from law school she birthed Community Advocacy and Healing Project, an organization dedicated to cultivating culturally mindful, human-centered advocacy and healing experiences.

5 Raina

Raina Gradford RYT 500

Raina has always been connected to the idea of liberation through movement. She believes that once we become attuned to our bodies we can figure out what’s needed to make them feel good and whole. Her enthusiasm for yoga and life is contagious – she was named in Austin FIT Magazine as The Best Yoga Instructor for 2018. She supports diverse and accessible yoga communities that embrace, encompass, and uplift all people and all cultures.

6 Kelly

Kelly Marshall (they/them) C-IAYT, RYT 500, LMT
