Yoga, Mindfulness and the Twelve Steps with Jacob Groomer

Join Jacob in community as he shares his experience with using yoga, mindfulness and the twelve steps to find recovery from trauma and addiction. Jacob has been an active member of the twelve step community and yoga community in Austin for over six years and he currently teaches full time to populations in addiction, incarceration, mental illness, PTSD, and military combat trauma. In this class we will discuss the common principals amongst the different practices and how each discipline can used to support and build upon each other to find healthy regulation of the nervous system and freedom from destructive thought patterning. This workshop is open to anyone and is beginner friendly. No previous yoga experience is required and no current recovery experience is required. The workshop will be 2 hours long and consist of lecture, asana practice, meditation and open discussion.

This workshop is also an introduction to a regular Recovery class that will be held at Practice Yoga Austin in the side space on Wednesday’s at 6:30 pm.
