“I believe that we learn by practice. Whether it means to learn to dance by practicing dancing or to learn to live by practicing living, the principles are the same. In each, it is the performance of a dedicated precise set of acts, physical or intellectual, from which comes shape of achievement, a sense of one’s being, a satisfaction of spirit. One becomes, in some area, an athlete of God. Practice means to perform, over and over again in the face of all obstacles, some act of vision, of faith, of desire.”- Martha Graham
A practice intensives is just that– an opportunity to bring intensity to your practice. Intensity is not forceful or harsh, but is an invitation to clarify intention, focus attention and cultivate the awareness needed to deepen your relationship with yourself. Taught in Christina Sell’s “Asana Junkies Style,” and modeled after her intensives at The San Marcos School of Yoga, these three days are comprised of structured, facilitated group practice sessions with Christina Sell practicing with the group. Best for seasoned students and teachers who are ready to learn, grow and develop greater sensitivity, the intensives will be a dynamic foray into standing poses, arm balances, backbends, inversions and forward bends. Expect to work hard, to laugh and to watch demonstrations, listen to explanations and have time to explore your limits in a supportive group setting. Participants should be able to kick to the wall in handstand unassisted and push up to urdhva dhanurasana with straight arms, or know appropriate modifications/substitutions. Not appropriate for people with injuries or illness.
