Inner Alchemy: Yin Yoga for Emotional Resiliency

Whenever we encounter unpleasant emotions or sensations, our habitual response is usually to turn away from that experience. But not only does this impulse fail to bring us the peace we seek, it also deprives us from the transformative potential of our discomfort. The practice of Yin yoga–where passive poses are held close to the ground for several minutes–offers us a new way of being with the natural energy of life when it shows up in a form that we don’t like. It teaches us that leaning into the discomfort–rather than pushing it away–is what brings us the freedom that we so deeply desire.
