Community Yoga: a 100 Hour Teacher Training with Shawn Kent, Laura DeBolt, and Friends

Shawn Kent and Laura DeBolt are teaming up with a group of experts-in-their-field to offer a 100 hour Community-Oriented Accessibility Training. This training will include practical application through teaching real classes to some of the under-served communities in Austin.
This training will consist of three parts:
1. Classroom education: This will be Shawn Kent, Laura DeBolt and other faculty teaching their own expertise in accessibility. Examples of some, not all curriculum: group facilitation, chair and adaptive yoga, Yoga for Recovery, Yoga for Veterans, Yoga for Disabilities, Healing-Centered facilitation (Just our alternative name for “Trauma-Informed”), The Language and Culture of Modifications, Respecting the History of Yoga, Teaching to Teens, etc. This section will be in-person at the church.
2. Then you go teach out in the community. We are planning for each person to teach four community classes. You will also observe eight other community classes (you’ll always have a buddy when you are doing fieldwork). Subject to change slightly based on need. Bonus: we are expecting ongoing opportunities to arise for you to continue teaching in the communitY after completion of training!
3. Concurrently with the public classes, we will come together to circle, share experiences, debrief, discuss, and learn from each other. This section will also be in person at the church.
Tuition: $2199

Payment plans available (~$271 monthly, December-June; or you can start your plan sooner for a lower monthly payment).
