How does our program work?
Our program consists of:

  • A 200-Hour Core Curriculum Program taken one weekend a month Jan-Dec 2022
  • 100 hours of chosen elective courses, taken either concurrently alongside the Core Curriculum Program or within 3 years

Who can sign up for this program?
This program is open to all students who have completed a 200-hour teacher training program.

Who can sign up for electives?
The elective courses are open to the public. Students of the 300 hour Advanced Teacher Training program receive a 10% discount on all electives.

How long is the Core Curriculum Program?
200 hours. About one weekend a month January - December 2022

What days do we meet?
Friday 4-8 pm
Saturday 9am -5pm (12-1 Lunch)
Sunday 9am -5pm (12-1 Lunch)

What are the dates of the Advanced Foundations course?

  • January 28-30
  • February 18-20
  • April 1-3
  • April 29-May 1
  • May 20-22
  • June 17-19
  • August 5-7
  • September 2-4
  • September 23-25
  • October 21-23
  • December 2-4

How long is the elective program?
You will take 100 hours of electives.
You can choose from 20-hour, 50-hour, and 100-hour courses for deeper study in your area of interest.

Do I have to take the Core Curriculum Program before the electives?
No, you can take the electives at any time, before during and after the 200-hour Core Curriculum Program.

Can I take electives at other studios?
No, all electives toward the 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training must be taken with Practice Yoga Austin.

How do I become a 500-hour teacher?
When you have completed your 200-hour Core Curriculum Program and your 100 hours of electives you can submit your certificate request to Laura@practiceyogaaustin.com to receive your certificate. You can then register as a 500-hour teacher through Yoga Alliance.

Who teaches the Core Curriculum Program?
Our Core Curriculum Program is taught by senior teachers in the Austin yoga community:
Shanti Kelley, Shawn Kent, Laura DeBolt, Iva Drtina-Hall, Marnie Castor, and Jenn Wooten

Who teaches the electives?
Electives are taught by senior teachers Shanti Kelley, Shawn Kent, Iva Drtina-Hall, and Jenn Wooten, Marnie Castor, Laura DeBolt, Andrea Barton, Steven Ross, Jenny Fairbanks as well as national senior teachers including Jason Crandall, Annie Carpenter and Christina Sell and others.

Will I get teaching practice?
Yes, you will receive 20 plus hours of teaching practice in the Core Curriculum Program and an opportunity to do in class hands-on assisting with senior teachers in the electives.

What is the tuition for the training?
The Core Curriculum 200 hour program is $3200.

Electives are an additional cost.

Is there an early bird discount?
Yes, if you submit your deposit before Dec 18th the tuition is $2800.

What is the deposit to reserve my spot?
$400 is required for enrollment in the training.

What is the payment schedule?
You can either pay the remainder due in full before the start of training or choose to be enrolled in a monthly payment plan January-November at no additional cost. You will receive more info via email upon registration.

What comes with my tuition?
Your tuition comes with a 200-hour Core Curriculum Program, an online manual, and unlimited classes at our studio (Jan 28-Dec 5).

Do you offer scholarships?
Yes, we offer need-based scholarships prioritizing people who are underrepresented in the yoga community. You can apply here.

What if I miss a weekend?
In accordance with Yoga Alliance, you must attend 80% of the training for your advanced certificate. If you miss more than two weekends of the Advanced Foundations course you must sign up for an additional 20 hour elective to make up those hours.

Is this program Yoga Alliance Accredited?
Yes, we are accredited with Yoga Alliance.
