This is a special workshop for the yoga mamas in their postpartum stage and beyond! This is not a typical postpartum / postnatal yoga class in which you rarely break a sweat. In this workshop, you will be working on your body, safely building the strength in your core and refining the alignments of your body that shifted with the hardest work you ever done – labor !

Your body went through a major event, so going back to your pre-pregnancy exercise might not be the right approach. High impact exercises without regaining the pelvic floor muscle strength and joints alignments could be the causes for many issues and discomforts that you might experience in the postpartum or even in the long term. Reiko, a certified yoga instructor at Practice Yoga Austin who is also a new mom of a 6 months old, will guide you through the special postpartum practice.

The workshop is open for the moms who have been given OK to start exercises by their OBGYN or Midwives (Typically after the 6 weeks check-ups). We recommend at least 2 to 3 months of rest after a labor. For those who had the C-section, stitches, tears, or Diastasis Recti (Abdominal muscle split), ensure that those muscles are healed before joining this workshop. It is the best to check with your doctor if practicing yoga and working on your core muscles are safe for you. Babies are welcome to join the workshop, but this class will be focusing on mothers bodies and will not be offering any baby yoga.
