Seeing the Student Body: Practice, Teach, Reside Yoga from an Energetic Perspective

Sunday, June 24 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Two Sessions:
Sunday 6/24 9-12PM &/or 1-4PM

At some point in every yogi’s career, we begin to tape into the subtlety of the yogic body. It may be experienced as deep relaxation, a sense of lift-off or deep-rooting-ground; however it’s experienced, we notice, without a doubt, a sense of ‘effortless-ness’ that comes with it. It’s in these moments that the deeper aspects of yoga have risen up to meet us at the physical level, when the subtle or energetic body is engaged the yoga resides as expansive yet grounded, strong yet abiding, and steady without struggle regardless of effort.

In this two part workshop, we will explore, learn and play with the subtle and not so subtle power of the energetic body:

Session 1: Empowering Ourselves, Diving into Embodied Practice. In this session, we will explore the anatomy of the energetic body, moving from our muscular sublty (the assisting muscularity), the fascia, the Vyu’s or the yogic movements of energy, and what yogic philosophy has to say about this wholistic approach to practice. In this session, we’ll look at how line’s of energy in our practice can are ‘broken’, leaking vital power and how we often constrict, holding so tightly, our roots can not reach ground.

Session 2: Empowering our Students, Assisting Others. In this session, we’ll take a look at Bodies in Practice. We’ll explore the way energy is leaked or underused in our students, what that looks like and how to assist them, thru the lens of the subtle anatomy, in creating a deeper connection to the power of the pose in practice. We’ll look at bodies, explore adjusting technique’s for teachers and learn how to create a non-invasive, non forceful approach to assist our students in finding their own power in practice.
