Mindful Movement II: Yin Yoga and Meditation

Yin Yoga is inspired by gentleness and “letting go.” This practice is designed to bypass the muscular tissue and target the connective tissues: ligaments, tendons, and fascia, to improve flexibility and increase circulation in the joints. The Yin style of long-held, passive poses opens-up the body over sustained periods of time, encouraging softness and deep internal release. Over time, practicing Yin yoga may lengthen these tissues increasing range of motion, and establishing flow in the body.
Meditation uses simple breath techniques and mental focus/release to clear the mind. It liberates the body from noisy thoughts, stress, and negativity. The result is an overall sense of calm in the body and a quiet mind.
